Abstract

The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of healthy lifestyle training and resilience training in reducing occupational stress and enhancing occupational self-efficacy among employees of healthcare centers in Shabestar County. This quasi-experimental study employed a pretest–posttest design with two intervention groups and one control group. The statistical population consisted of 398 employees working in healthcare centers in Shabestar County in 2025. A total of 45 participants were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to healthy lifestyle training, resilience training, and control groups, with 15 participants in each group. Data were collected using the Occupational Stress Questionnaire developed by Parker and DeCotiis and the Occupational Self-Efficacy Questionnaire developed by Wilk and Moynihan. Both intervention groups received nine sessions lasting approximately 60–90 minutes, while the control group received no intervention. Data were analyzed using mixed-design analysis of variance and Bonferroni post-hoc tests. For occupational stress, the effect of time was significant, F = 24.70, p < 0.001, η² = 0.37, and the group × time interaction was also significant, F = 7.22, p < 0.01, η² = 0.26. For occupational self-efficacy, the effect of time was significant, F = 72.73, p < 0.001, η² = 0.63, and the group × time interaction was significant, F = 26.37, p < 0.001, η² = 0.55. Bonferroni comparisons indicated significant differences between the intervention groups, with healthy lifestyle training producing greater reductions in occupational stress and greater increases in occupational self-efficacy than resilience training. Both healthy lifestyle training and resilience training were effective in reducing occupational stress and improving occupational self-efficacy among healthcare workers; however, healthy lifestyle training demonstrated greater effectiveness and may therefore represent a more comprehensive intervention for promoting occupational psychological health in healthcare settings.
